The 1st International Biochar Summer School “bio:char crossroads”, September 9 to 16, Potsdam 2012, offers excellent young scientists from around the world a valuable means of information exchange and professional development.
It will be a highly productive event with good opportunities for networking with senior scientists and peers in the field of biochar. The main topics of the Summer School are: biochar production, feedstock availability, system integration, biochar characterization, and soil effects of biochar. The Summer School is limited to 20 participants. We welcome applications from PhD students and post-doctoral researchers from different fields of biochar research such as Soil biology, Environmental and agricultural sciences, Process engineering, Sustainability management, and Economics.
Prominent speakers from all sections of the international biochar community will share their knowledge and passion with the participants. In addition the participants will have a chance to meet representatives of the biochar industry and get in touch with the latest technical developments.
At a central special event “Last Exit – Biochar?” the biochar issue will be discussed controversely with prominent guests from politics, biochar industry, science and the media.
The application deadline is April 15, 2012.
